They are like Japanese L size for S size in the U.S.
Of course, I was amazed by people size in here too. How can they fit into economy seat on the airplane? Can they travel? What if I sit right next to them?
I think soda is a medicine to make people sick and large. I agree with taxing them.
I've seen on TV, a lady complaining about her economy situation and how prices of food went up, and on the kitchen counter behind her, there were some soda cans. How can you buy soda when you struggle to feed your family?
I don't agree with diet soda either, I've seen somebody drinking diet soda, but never lost a pound.

Healthy Eating Style : Macrobiotics

My friend is doing Macrobiotics. In macrobiotic diet, they eat grains as a staple food supplemented with other foodstuffs such as vegetables and beans, and avoiding the use of highly processed or refined foods. (borrowed from Wiki)
Macrobiotics is originated from Japanese cuisine. I am Japanese, so macrobiotics food is familiar to me. Eating Genmai, (brown rice) Miso soup, Nimono, (simmered food) & pickles doesn't bother me at all, but because of my husband (american) I can't give up some meat, eggs, coffee, milk, cheese, all no-no for the Macrobiotics diet.
I try to eat at least Genmai (brown rice) and I have been eating Genmai for nearly a year, my asthma is much improved.
I recommend everybody to at least know the word Macrobiotics and their philosophy and have a healthy life.

Pressure Cooker is very useful!

I have Stainless Steel Pressure Cooker. After I got married and tried to get coverage for me, I was amazed how difficult it was. I have a severe asthma, of course I was denied. We set up our own business and finally I got it but the insurance I got was so expensive and covers very little. I was allowed to visit doctor just 3 times a year, and each visit cost me co-pay, $30.- plus they billed me about $150.00 extra later. In year 2000. For premium, we paid $200.- per month, which was very big money for us, I wonder what do they really used our money for. I know. the money goes all to their salary.
I went to asthma doctor, he didn't give me prescription right away, he wanted me to come back in one month to do the breathing test, which I know their intention, my asthma was so bad, they wanted to give me good care. I explained to them I only have 2 more visit for this year, but I think my English was so poor, they didn't understand me. I ended up going there 2 more time just to get the prescription I really needed. That experience made me so paranoid about health care system in this country, I was fear to go to the doctor even for pap smear every woman in late 20's are all supposed to do.

Easy Japanese Cooking Book : Everyday Harum

Harumi Kurihara is like Martha Stewart in Japan. Like who doesn't want to pay tax for better health care, education, traffic systems. Why not? They need those too. I wonder if they don't know that you can't be happy only among themselves (riches).
If I win a lottery, all I want is one million dallars and a little bit (like $10,000.-) I'll pay off this condo and get a new house in a better area using million, and I'll have 2 week Hawaii vacation with 10,000.- Don't forget about the donation! I'll donate 10% of my lucky money to some groups that does good things.
So, I got a new yellow cardigan for my money luck. Dr. Copa the Japanese famous feng shui master tells to wear yellow for money luck. Wear yellow!
Clean your house especially the west of your house to have good chi flow. Put yellow flowers on your west area of your house.
I'll buy yellow flower, may be an orchid and put on my bathroom. According to his book, to strengthen your money luck, you need to clean the west side of your house first, then put some yellow and white stuff (flowers are the best) there. It is not good to have bathrooms or your kitchen on the west side of your house, if you do, you have to make sure you keep those areas very clean.
Unfortunately, my house has a bathroom on the west side. Actually, I need to clean there, so I will now!

Easy home economic note

"Easy home economic note" came with a Japanese magazine called "Sutekina Okusan" (Wonderful wife). This note lets you keep track of how much you spend on food and other expenses. The structure is pretty simple: The calendar for each month so you can note which bills will be due, and space to write down what you spend on food and other stuff, one by one, such as; bananas : $1.97, shampoo : $3.50... At first, I thought I'd feel like it's too much work to do all that, but I found myself enjoying it. I have been using this note since last December, I keep all the receipts in the wall pocket and write down with a pencil every 3 to 5 days. I used to just input everything on a excel spread sheet for a total amount, and I still do that, but writing down one by one by pencil makes me realize how much everything really cost. It is good to see how much goes to alcohol / partying / etc. Using a pencil feels nice too.

my new year resolution

My new year resolution.
1) Save money.
Food - $400.-
Restaurant $100.-
Baby expense - $60.-
Gas $160.-
Others $200.-
Put on the saving account $400.-

I recently went back to Japan. I found lots of magazines featuring how to save on household expenses, such as food, energy, and so on. Some expert housewives spend only about $100 a month.- but their eating doesn't look so poor. Using cooking technique and knowledge, You may spend much less on everyday food. My current is about $500, I want it to be within $400.

Feng Shui boom in Japan

Last 10 years, the Feng Shui boom has been raised in Japan. (Feng means wind, Shui means water) The belief originated from China, dating back some five thousand years. "Feng Shui" seeks to enhance the quality and flow of life force energy, called "Qi" According to Feng Shui, people's luck depends on what direction the house's door, windows, and bathrooms face, and the colors of the furniture, and what they eat and how they eat. First, direction has much meanging in Feng Shui. Each direction represents a meaning : North is descendant and savings, East is business and southeast is love. If you want to improve your love or romance luck, you should live in a room which is located in the southeast section or part of your house, with its window faced to the southeast. Second, color also plays a great role. For example, at the north end of the room, people who believe in Feng Shui should use white and dark colors; these colors mean "purity and calm." to the east, they use red and blue to bring "vigor". To the south, green is used to bring "prosperity." It is also recommended to put plants here and there. The way of eating and what they eat also affects their luck. If they eat noodles a lot, their human relationships will be improved. If they eat crab and shrimp a lot, their charm will be increased, and the will power is strengthened if they eat the noodles or crab or shrimp at the beginning and the ending of the meal. It may sound stupid to other cultures, but many Asian people are very superstitious and I am one of them.

Start Feng Shui - Start from Spring Cleaning

Be Happy with Feng Shui.
